From next month to the end of this year, 1 thousand MW from the NIPPs will be added to the national grid to bring a total output capability to 5,400MW.
Although Nnaji admitted that over 167 million folks adding an additional 1,000MW to the grid to make it 5,400MW was still insignificant, he said with the aggressive completion of the NIPPs, growth and upgrade of the transmission and distribution infrastructure, Nigeria will be generating 9,000MW by next year.
