Navy Officers brutalise traffic officers

Naval officers Nigeria Friday allegedly assaulted officers of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement in Ogun State.

It Was learnt that the officers connected to the Nigeria Naval Officers  faculty of Music in Sango Ota additionally vandalised properties at the corps’ Ado-Odo Ota Zonal workplace.

This came about when 2 TRACE officers accosted a naval officer for allegedly driving against traffic around Joju Junction.

The corps’ Zonal Commander, Mr. Ajibade Adekunle, told newsmen that the naval officer in question was on mofty when he was accosted.

On May 11, 2012, around 7:45am, a blue Peugeot 406 with registration DK 268 ABJ, was accosted by our operatives on patrol at Joju Junction for driving against traffic.

“The traffic officers, led by Commander Salabiu and the provost commander, Onasoga Adekansi, interrogated the motive force. However he neither answered the queries nor introduced himself. Rather, he selected to abandon the vehicle at the center of the road.”

Later on, one Isa Atanda, unscrewed the amount plate of the vehicle and asked the naval workplacer to retrieve it at the TRACE office.

Our correspondent learnt that many naval personnel stormed TRACE workplace and beat up the corps men.

Atanda said the naval officers, who were armed, beat him to a pulp and threatened to kill him.

He said, “The naval officers were hitting me within the head with the butt of their guns, saying ‘we can kill you, how dare you accost our commander in such a fashion.’

“I begged them and explained that theircommander was in plain garments therefore i could not have known that he was a naval officer however they refused.
