With all due respect , just like the fuel subsidy decision that the presidency implemented , this is an ill advised move, (no disrespect to the abiola family)
Federal universities carter for all nigerians and therefore their names should remain neutral , just like the founding fathers intended.
Any other university after that (state or otherwise) , is free to be named after any renowned dignitary, living or post humous.
You know , names determine the fate of an enterprise . Calling a school the name of a yoruba dignitary ensures that most yorubas would want to go that school . Likewise the igbos , and all other ethnicities.
I am imploring the national assembly to consider this huge disadvantage before passing such a bill , as it will have disastrous conscequences in the future.
Look at university of ife [(sorry , obafemi awolowo university) – Up till today , after that name change , people no longer consider that university as a federal university . Somehow , it stopped competing with its equals.
    I rest my case .
    Regards ,
    Ms Chima Obioma Maduako.
N/B – it will also reduce the revisiting of this same issue when another presidency is in place . University of ife (obafemi awolowo university) is still an issue to be revisited . Please don’t make it number two.thanks.

I really support that, because if the name be deprivatized, it will be difficult to recoverable by people.
