The protesting journalists carried placards and banners, some of which bore the photographs of Benedict Uwalaka and Tunde Ogundeji.

Uwalaka and Ogundeji were recently attacked in Lagos by LASUTH mortuary attendants and some irate train passengers respectively.

Some of the placards read, ‘Journalists are friends not foes; we will no longer tolerate these assaults; we demand our rights; stop the assaults; and we will resist the brutalities’ among others.

Elumoye said the action was to draw government’s and public attention to the plights of journalists in the course of their duties as information carriers.
