According to National Mirror, No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnap of the 70-year-old monarch and no contact had been established with his abductors. It was further gathered that security agencies and ex-militant leaders in the state have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers whose destination is yet to be ascertained.

A source who pleaded anonymity said the traditional ruler might have been abducted for ransom.

The state Commissioner of Police, Kingsley Omire, confirmed the incident but said the police had been deployed in the area as reported by Punch.

He said, “We are aware of the incident. Our men and a very senior officer are already there. The DPO, Biseni is already on ground. By next week, we are going to record a major breakthrough.

The kidnappers were said to have broken into his palace, which has no perimeter fence, and made straight to his bedroom, whisking him away to unknown destination. His wife was by his side when they kidnapped him. A community youth leader, who pleaded anonymity according to Daily Independent, said the people of Ikarama were woken up by the rude shock of the kidnapping of King Seiba at about 1am on Saturday.

“We were woken by the kidnapping of our King in his home at about 2 a.m. on Saturday. It is shocking to us because he is an old man, about 72 years old. We don’t know where they have taken him to. This morning (Saturday morning), we saw anti-kidnapping police van in our community,” he said.

All members of the state are thus requested to be at alert for any information that might lead to the arrest of these RASCALS.
